• COURSE CONTENT

  The course is delivered through 7 engaging, structured modules (elements), each designed to build your competence step by step, with assessments to reinforce learning and track your progress:

  1. Introduction to the IMSBC Code

  • Gain a clear understanding of the Code’s purpose, structure, and mandatory role under SOLAS, and how it supports the safe carriage of solid bulk cargoes.

  2. Hazards of Solid Bulk Cargoes

  • Explore the key operational risks—such as cargo shifting, liquefaction, and chemical hazards—and how they affect vessel stability and safety.

  3. Classification & Cargo Groups

  • Learn how cargoes are classified under the IMSBC Code, and how accurate identification of Groups A, B, and C underpins safe handling and decision-making.

  4. Risk Management Procedures

  • Develop practical insight into the controls that keep operations safe, including trimming, moisture limits, stowage, segregation, and onboard safety measures.

  5. Sampling, Testing & Documentation

  • Understand how reliable sampling, testing, and cargo documentation support compliance, reduce uncertainty, and help prevent incidents.

  6. Cargo Schedules & Operations

  • Build confidence using cargo schedules to plan and manage operations—from hold preparation and loading to monitoring and discharge.

  7. Other Key Provisions

  • Broaden your knowledge of related regulations, including waste carriage requirements, IMSBC cross-references, and safe ship–shore practices under the BLU Code.
