Exis Technologies, leader in IT compliance systems for the shipment of dangerous goods by sea, has been named as one of 30 of the UK’s leading freight and logistics businesses on the shortlist for the 2017 FTA Logistics Awards. The awards, co-ordinated by the country’s leading logistics membership association, the Freight Transport Association (FTA) celebrate supply chain leadership and excellence, and recognise leaders who have made a significant contribution to the industry, either as individuals or as businesses.  Exis Technologies has been shortlisted in the Logistics Partner of the Year category.

“We are delighted to have been shortlisted for this prestigious award in our 30th anniversary year,” said James Douglas, Commercial Director, Exis Technologies.  Exis has been developing IT solutions for the transport of dangerous goods by sea since 1987 and during that time we hope that we have made a difference to safety in the supply chain.  Being shortlisted for the award alongside some other great companies, is a real acknowledgement of the hard work which the company has put in to help their industry partners achieve their goals.”

The shortlisted entries be judged by the FTA’s Board and the winners named at a ceremony to be held at London’s Intercontinental Hotel on 13 December 2017.  In addition to the presentations and entertainment, the evening will feature a keynote speech by Jesse Norman MP, Parliamentary Under Secretary of State at the Department for Transport.

“Without the knowledge and expertise of our shortlist, British industry and commerce would find it impossible to keep the wheels of business moving,” said David Wells, Chief Executive of the Freight Transport Association (FTA) which is co-ordinating the awards in partnership with Multimodal.  “The judges were impressed with the quality and breadth of the entries, and those who have made it to the shortlist can be justly proud of their contribution to the UK’s economy.

FTA represents all modes of the UK’s freight and logistics sector, with its members operating half of the UK’s lorry fleet (more than 200,000 vehicles) and consigning 70% of the country’s visible exports by sea and air.  The UK remains a leader in logistics at a global level, ranked in the top ten countries in terms of logistics performance, and the sector contributes 11% of the UK’s non-financial business economy.  In 2016, 2.54 million people were employed in logistics in the UK, approximately 8% of the UK’s workforce.
