Product Overview

This course is designed specifically for those involved in packing cargo into freight containers and other cargo transport units (CTUs). It introduces the Code of Practice for Packing of Cargo Transport Units (CTU Code) and shows how it applies directly to your daily work on the ground.

You’ll gain a clear understanding of the Code’s purpose, how it was developed, and how it helps ensure cargo is packed safely and securely to prevent accidents, damage, and delays in the supply chain.

This course provides:

  • An introduction to the Code of Practice and outline to the course learning objectives
  • An outline of the key contributors to the CTU Code and background on its development
  • An overview of the regulatory status of the Code of Practice and how it may be enforced
  • Details on the information provided in the CTU Code highlighting what is contained in each Chapter, supporting Annex and Informative Material
  • Details on how to access the online versions of the CTU code

Throughout the course, you’ll find useful links to relevant parts of the CTU Code, either within the main content or in the reference bar at the bottom of the page. At the end, there’s an assessment to check your understanding, and you’ll receive a certificate of completion.

This course is endorsed by the TT Club and ICHCA who are part of the Cargo Integrity Group. This Group is a partnership of global trade bodies collectively promoting high standards in the packing of cargo in freight containers and other transport units to avoid safety and environmental risks.

In striving for greater awareness and usage of the CTU Code in order to improve safety in the intermodal supply chain, the Cargo Integrity Group has published its Quick Guide to the Code, and its accompanying Container Packing Checklist – see the resources section for access to these. They are also available in Arabic, Chinese, French, Italian, Russian and Spanish here.
