Since 1972 AEL DDS, based in Port Louis, Mauritius, has been involved in the logistics and transportation of petroleum and hazardous products for the major petroleum companies in Mauritius and Rodrigues. AEL DDS is part of the Taylor Smith Group, a privately-owned family business dating back to 1868 based in Mauritius, with activities also in the Seychelles and Rodrigues. A well-known employer on Mauritius, Taylor Smith Group has a team of 800 people operating across 16 business units, including AEL DDS who employ 160 of those and operate under the logistics and distribution arm of the business. AEL DDS is ISO accredited and was awarded the best transporter title in Africa in 2006 and acquired the professional hauler status.
AEL DDS has been using IMDG Code e-learning to train their staff since 2015. They recently purchased Refresher courses for training in IMDG Code Amendment 39-18. Robert Desvaux, Managing Director commented, “We have been training our key staff with the IMDG Code e-learning courses for several years now and find them a cost-effective way of keeping them up to date with the regulations. The online training method suits our business. Also as IMDG Code e-learning is approved by the competent authority in Mauritius we know that the certificates that the staff have once they have completed their courses will be recognised as proof of training and that gives us confidence in this qualification.”
IMDG Code e-learning is a cost-effective online training tool for all shore side staff involved in the handling and transport of dangerous goods by sea. It gives high quality training that complies with both the general awareness and function specific training requirements in the IMDG Code.
