National Cargo Bureau (NCB) is a not for profit organisation that began operations in November 1952, created to assist the United States Coast Guard with the sole mission of Safety of Life and Cargo at Sea. Headquartered in New York, NCB operates nationally across the United States, carrying out vessel and container inspections across ports in the USA for the industry.
NCB has been an Exis customer since 2006, purchasing IMDG Code compliance systems for use in its compliance operations across the United States. IMDG Code for Windows, a pc download system which can be used globally to check shipments for IMDG Code compliance, is used in 11 ports.
NCB has also been working closely with Exis Technologies to develop Hazcheck Inspections, a web-based database and access portal for inspection companies to plan and enter details of cargo Inspections completed on behalf of shippers, containers and vessel operators.
NCB acquired the Exis Group companies in June 2018 as part of their Safety of Life and Cargo at Sea mission. The combined operation gives resources, expertise and improved global reach to better support customers in the critical area of containerised cargo regulatory compliance, training, safety and loss prevention.
Bob Ahlborn, Vice President Liner Activities, based in New York commented, “Exis Technologies has been supplying our IMDG Code compliance software tool for over a decade. We have developed that relationship further with the purchase of Exis Technologies and are now happy to be working alongside Exis Technologies, our software division, on an exciting new container inspection project.”
